Thank you for visiting my blog about Fearless Breast Health.

In this blog, I am going to explore all the newest advances in preventative breast health. I am hoping to help women in the Western world from the subconscious fear that lives in our hearts and minds about developing breast cancer. We are inundated with messages about detection, which is so important, but what about PREVENTION?

I am going to start this blog with my personal story, and then we will get to business about prevention, nutrition, lifestyle, expert advice and anything else that will empower us to take control of our health.

My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1988 with a lump that was 1 ½ inches. Although she received mammograms (which were the early balloon style) she found the lump herself. This was the same year she was diagnosed with advanced Alzheimer’s disease. She received a mastectomy but because of her other condition was never able to really grasp or communicate the sadness that she experienced every time she looked down at her chest. That deep fear and sadness affected the way I felt about my own future.

I started getting mammograms in my 30’s and always with fear and trepidation about the day I would get my own bad news. After all, my mother had breast cancer. I knew from my years as a health and wellness practitioner that this belief system was hazardous to my health. I finally decided to change my thinking.

That is when I discovered Breast Thermography. Breast thermography can detect pre-structural changes in the breast tissue. In other words, it’s a warning that something is happening even before there is any lump. And the other side of that is the Peace of Mind that comes with knowing that you are looking 8-10 years into the future, and you are healthy! And the radiation, compression free infrared camera doesn’t put anything into the body. Wow, early non-toxic prevention.

I wanted thermography for myself and decided that this amazing and under-utilized technology should be available to all the women in my area. So I decided to add thermography to my Integrative Wellness and Chiropractic practice. I went to North Carolina to study with Dr. Peter Leando under the auspices of the American College of Clinical Thermography at Duke Medical Center. Returning to Los Angeles with my camera, I began my work as a Clinical Thermographer. I soon realized I wanted to do more.

Taking the scans which are interpreted by M.D. Thermologists was a great service. But what do we do with the results, especially when things are moving away from stable breast tissue. That is when I began to educate myself about all we can do to protect our breasts and our loved ones. And so this blog was born.

We do not have to live in fear. Let’s join together to change October from Breast Cancer Awareness Month to Breast HEALTH Awareness Month!
